The two Marlian Music signees, Oniyide Azeez (Zinoleesky) and Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Oladimeji) who were on Thursday arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged possession of hard drugs have been released.
After some hours, Mohbad was released but Zinoleesky had to stay back.
Well on Friday evening, Marlian Music boss, Naira Marley, via his Instastory shared a video of the young artist to confirm his release.
Earlier, Zinoleesky shared the same with him captured shirtless whilst chilling inside a car with other crew members of the Marlian music.
GBETU had reported that operatives of the NDLEA stormed the residence of the musicians in the Lekki area of Lagos State, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Naira Marley in a tweet accused the NDLEA of physically assaulting his artists after they were illegally arrested from their Lekki residence.
The popular singer also asked the anti-narcotic agency to release Zinoleeksy from their custody, claiming that the singer is under a lot of stress and torment.
The NDLEA said it found hard drugs – Molly and Cannabis; in the singers custody.
According to NDLEA Spokesman, Femi Babafemi, “Our men raided an area in Idado estate where Bịara Market boys stay. Some quantities of Cannabis sativa and Molly were recovered from their apartment and car.”
“Six persons were arrested in all. Two females and four males.”
An eyewitness claimed that the officials carried out the arrest without having any search warrants. In the viral video, operatives of the NDLEA were seen manhandling the musicians, whilst shooting into the air to force them into waiting vans.
But responding again on Saturday via a Facebook Post, Femi Babafemi said operatives of the Agency don’t need to have a warrant before they can search premises.
Posting on Facebook, Babafemi shared a screenshot of an Act that allows NDLEA operatives to search premises without having a warrant.
He captioned the screenshot, “This is for the benefit of those who want to know why officers of @ndlea_nigeria don’t need a warrant to search premises or vehicles; arrest suspects or seize exhibits. It’s the LAW!”
The screenshot read, “b) Any officer of the Agency involved in the enforcement of the provisions of this Act:
“May, without warrant, enter and search any land, building or carrier, including aircraft, vehicle or container or any other instrumentalities whatsoever which he has reason to believe is connected with the commission of an offence under this Act.
“May perform test and take samples of any substance relating to the commission of an offence which is found on the land, building or carrier, including aircraft, vehicle or container or any other instrumentalities whatsoever pursuant to the paragraph (a) of this subsection;
“Arrest any person whom he has reason has committed an offence under this Act;
“Seize any item or substance which he has reason to believe has been used in the commission of an offence under this Act.”
Mohbad points ‘strange finger’
Moreover, during the arrest sagga, one of the singers, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji popularly known as Mohbad, alleged that his record label manager and boss, Naira Marley, and other members of the group are after his life.
Mohbad, after he gained freedom from NDLEA custody went on Instagram live to accuse Naira Marley.
He said, “Everybody in the whole world please help me, if I die woh na Marlian music and Naira Marley kill me.
“Abeg if I die like this, God, please help me. Look at all these people sha my God will never fuck me up, never. I’m in Idado estate.”
In another live video, he said, “I’m going to the hospital right now. God please help me, I’m fucked up by many people, I don’t trust anybody. Please help me, I don’t want to die”.
Mohbad crying, mentioned names of people in Marlian Music that are after his life – the entire label, especially Zino; except “19”.
