The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), steered by the visionary Architect Sodiq Obanoyen, extends her heartfelt solidarity to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our esteemed former Vice President and the PDP’s presidential candidate in the last presidential election. We share in your disappointment over the unfortunate miscarriage of justice at the presidential tribunal yesterday, yet we applaud your unyielding resolve to challenge this verdict at the Supreme Court.

Your persona is a testament to resilience and an unwavering commitment to truth and justice. Your life is a narrative of purpose, consistency, and tireless effort. Your political acumen, honed under the late Shehu Yaradua’s school of politics, has shaped you into a seasoned politician, a sage, and a leader with the formidable capacity to uplift Nigerians from the quagmire of poverty, disillusionment, despondency, and hopelessness they are being thrown into by the All Progressive Congress (APC). This potential, which the Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commission seeks to dim, was further undermined yesterday by the most perplexing judgment pronounced by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The stakeholders of Ekiti PDP firmly believe that akin to Apostle Peter in the bible, it is upon your shoulders that the hopes for a joyful and prosperous Nigeria rest. This could have been realised in the February 25 presidential election, had it not been marred by irregularities and the subsequent compromised judgment of yesterday. It is undeniable that the desperate cries of the people for relief and hope echo in your ears, fueling your drive to rejuvenate our great Party, of which you are a founding father. And we are imploring all the members of the Peoples Democratic Party, home and abroad, to steadfastly stand by you.

The Ekiti Peoples Democratic Party and her stakeholders have pledged to walk this path with you, unwavering in our commitment. When you glance over your shoulder, rest assured that you will see the Ekiti State PDP and her stakeholders steadfastly following you. Your Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of our great Party, we urge you to remain resilient and hopeful despite these setbacks. Amidst all adversities, remember that you are not forsaken. Take comfort in the words of Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
