Ilorin Muslims on their insistence to use Hijab in Christian mission schools

Ilorin Muslims on their insistence to use Hijab in Christian mission schools

Pertinent question to Ilorin Muslims on their insistence to use Hijab in Christian mission schools:

There are at least six categories of Schools in Kwara State as listed below:

  1. General public schools fully owned by the State Government;
  2. Grant aided community schools founded by various community development unions;
  3. Private Schools founded by individuals;
  4. Grant aided Christian Mission Schools founded by churches.
  5. Grant aided Islamic schools founded by Muslim groups
  6. Madrasat Schools which are purely Islamic and Arabic schools for which the Kwara State government has a separate board different from the regular official boards regulating education in Kwara State and this is done in recognition of the need to allow for the full practice of Islamic tenets in those schools.

The Christian mission schools and particularly the Christian theological institutions which is suppose to be an equivalent of that did not have a board of their own yet despite the request for that already placed before the government of Kwara state.

It thus implies that since the Muslims of Kwara Srate have several options of schools where they can wear Hijab and fully practice their faith; why the insistence of doing so in Christian Mission Schools.

It may further interest the general public to note that the Kwara State government listed about 30 Schools for renovation under the current administration and not a single Christian mission School is included. Find the list below that included all other categories of schools listed above except Christian mission schools.

The Christians proprietors knew that all these were going on but accepted to take up the responsibility of maintaining standard in our school that the Muslims are now trying to employ atrocious means to take over.

See list of schools below:

Now on the Closure of Some Schools in Kwara State, due to demand of new dressing style by a group, we need to ask some basic questions and know some things –

  1. Why were the Schools taken over from the owners by the State Government??
  2. Why did the owners handed the Schools over to State Government??
  3. What was the condition for hand over??
  4. Is the hand over Partial or Total??
  5. Were the original owners of these schools compensated for the Partial or Total hand over??
  6. Note: The conditions for hand over can be reviewed!!
  7. Why Is a new dressing style being demanded?

8. Why is this new fashion being opposed?

  1. What are the negative effects of non use of the new dressing fashion on the: Academic Performances, Moral Education and Religious Practice of students in the Past, Present and Future??
  2. What Positive effects will the use of the new dressing fashion have on the: Academic Performances, Moral Education and Religious Practice of these students now and in the Future??
  3. Is Kwara State a “Secular” State as it is in the Constitution and as claimed??
  4. Why must the State sponsor Institutions controlled and owned by
    Religious Organisations??
  5. Why did Kwara State build and fully sponsor “Kwara State College of Islamic Legal Studies”?????
  6. Why must the State Government be involved in establishment and full sponsor of Religious Judicial System??
  7. Why must Kwara State fully sponsor the ” Sharia Court”
  8. Why are these “good gestures” not done to other Religious Groups in the State ??
  9. Note: Law establishing these State owned institutions must be reviewed!!
  10. Note: Most of the people taking sides today were not born when the schools were taken over!!
  11. Note: We need to check our History Books and amicably resolve this problem now!!
  12. Note: We should be mindful of condemning decisions of our forefathers;
  13. Note: No group has monopoly of violence!
  14. Note: Violence does no good!!
  15. Note: Nothing is as good as Peace and peaceful coexistence!!!

Thank You.
