Martha Udom lauds Frank Archibong for providing shelter for Widows: The Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, has lauded the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong on his programme of alleviating poverty by showing genuine love, in the provision of shelter for widows and raising for them platform of hope in the future.
Speaking during the official commissioning/hand over of a 2 bedroom furnished apartment built by the Commissioner for a widow, Mrs. Ekaette Eliziar, an indigene of Ikot Nsidibe village, Okon-Eket, on Thursday, 18th February, 2021. Dr. Martha Emmanuel, was represented by the coordinator of her pet project, FEYReP, Mrs. Ime Inyang.
Mrs. Inyang who is the wife to the Chief of Staff to the Governor, said “Anywhere Her Excellency goes, she is always putting smiles on the faces of women by giving to those who do not have.”
She commended Mr. Frank Archibong for demonstrating practical love, saying “Frank Archibong is a man with a heart of compassion. He is a selfless man who is conscious and concerned about the well-being of his people, widows and less privileged.”
The Governor’s wife equally admonished the beneficiary, who is the daughter to the original beneficiary, late Mrs. Ekaette Aliziar to take good care of the facility.
The donor, Mr. Frank Archibong, expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr. Mrs. Martha Emmanuel for challenging and inspiring younger generation with her philanthropic disposition, to always strive to give back to the society. “With this, I and my family pledge that, by God’s grace, and that of the Governor, we shall continue to contribute our quota to the betterment of Akwa Ibom State, and the society as a whole”.
The Commissioner also appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel and his Wife, for finding him worthy to be appointed into the State Executive Council, adding that the Council is made up of seasoned and eminent persons who are all bonded by the common vision of ensuring the realization of the well-thought-out second term Completion Agenda of the Governor.
He noted that while appreciating the demonstrated commitments of His Excellency, towards actualizing the Completion Agenda, “we must not fail to acknowledge and commend the complementary role of Her Excellency’s Pet Project “Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Programme” (FEYReP), guided by its objective of standing in the gap for the society’s downtrodden and vulnerable”.
He stressed that It is on record that FEYReP has given start-up grants and equipment to thousands of youths and women to empower them to set up small businesses for themselves through partnership with several organizations and agencies, both locally and internationally, to provide quality healthcare to thousands of otherwise hapless citizens and provision of homes for hundreds of orphans who are now under its care for upbringing and education.
Mr. Archibong, also asserted that FEYReP has carved a niche for itself as “the harbinger of hope to the vulnerable and indigent poor, both within and outside Akwa Ibom State and, has relocated tens of widows from their dilapidated homes to brand new apartments built and donated to them by the NGO”, he submitted.
In their various goodwill messages, Member Representing Eket State Constituency, Mr. David Lawrence; Chairman of Eket local, Mr. Akan Tommey; Wife of the Commissioner, Mrs. Bright Archibong; wife of the Paramount ruler of Eket, Her Majesty, Obonganwan Mandu Abia; Chapter Chairman of PDP, Obongiwaad Emman Mbong; former member for Eket State constituency, Hon. Ayang Akanimo; Dr. Nsidibe Akata, Hon. Ekanem Willie; maintained that the building is a testimony of practical love and good governance made possible through Feyrep.
“Frank Archibong has shown capacity in terms of human capital development. He is a blessed child and he has remained a source of blessing to many”.
The beneficiaries were full of gratitude to the Governor’s wife and the family of Mr. Frank Archibong for providing them with personal home after years of homelessness.
