PDP: Agboola Ajayi hijacks Olafeso’s structure in Ondo 2020
– Faces him out from being part of the leading aspirants
– As the leading PDP aspirants now reduce to 3
In his quest to clinch the ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Agboola Ajayi, Ondo State Deputy governor, has hijacked the political structure of Chief Eddy Olafeso, which has subsequently reduced the number of the PDP leading aspirants in Ondo State to three.
Those hijacked from the camp of Olafeso by Ajayi are the main principal actors working for Olafeso.
They are Dr Lucas Gbakinro, Barrister Yomi Akinfemiwa, Hon Akinsuroju and Hon Bamiduro Dada.
Ondo News gathered that Hon. Festus Akingbaso has also be hijacked from Olafeso’s camp by Ajayi.
While in the camp of Eyitayo Jegede, Dr Kola Ademujimi, Elder Adara from Akoko south-west, Banke Solton and Barrister Benson Amuwa were also hijacked by Ajayi.
Meanwhile, the Nation Newspaper reported one week ago that the youths of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State have vowed to resist alleged financial inducement being made by the Deputy Governor of the State, Agboola Ajayi, to woo party members to support his aspiration.
The PDP youths under the auspices of Democratic Reformation Force (DRF) said it was shameful that Eyitayo Jegede and Eddy Olafeso were already losing supporters to Ajayi.
The Coordinator of the group, Prince Ojo Olatunji said it was unimaginable for youths in the PDP to endure pains and hunger for four years only for the Deputy Governor to want to reap where others have laboured.
Olatunji stated that the Ondo PDP youths would rather join the campaign train of Banji Okunomo whose camp remained intact than the deputy governor as a way of rewarding party loyalty.
He urged the party national leadership to provide a level playing field for all the aspirants on July 22, 2020.
Ondo News gathered that the strength of Olafeso lies on the old PDP members in Ondo State but unfortunately for him, the majority of those he relied upon have been bought over by Ajayi.
Some of them claimed Olafeso is not supposed to run for the office of the governor being the National Vice Chairman of the PDP in the southwest. They said he is supposed to be a kingmaker rather than aspiring to become a King himself. They debunked being financially induced.
But Ondo News can report authoritatively that the coming of Agboola Ajayi into the PDP has faced out Olafeso as part of the leading aspirants of the PDP in Ondo State.
The current leading aspirants now are Banji Okunomo, Eyitayo Jegede and Agboola Ajayi, Ondo News has confirmed.
The ticket of the party is strictly for any of the three aspirants mentioned above.
It was gathered by our correspondent that Jegede is not favoured being from the Central Senatorial District of the state where former Ondo State governor, Dr Segun Mimiko was produced for 8 years.
The race is between Okunomo and Ajayi as at today. Only God knows what would happen tomorrow.
