Anambra Man, Engr Emeka Ezeh, who worked with four Presidents to receive award as public servant of the Decade.
Anambra State is set to honor one of its own, Engr Emeka M. Ezeh, with the prestigious award of Public Servant of the Decade.
Engr Ezeh, a renowned civil engineer and procurement expert, has had a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, during which he worked closely with four Nigerian Presidents.
Born on February 16, 1958, in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Engr Emeka Ezeh dedicated his life to public service and good governance initiatives. His expertise in civil engineering practice and procurement policies/supply chain management has earned him recognition both in Nigeria and internationally.
He currently holds the position of CEO at TBP Solutions Ltd, an independent certified international procurement professional and a chartered civil/structural engineer. He has been actively involved in providing procurement services and conducting training for various public sector entities, including federal ministries, state governments, and private organizations. Some of the notable entities he has worked with include the Federal Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, National Identity Management Commission, Nigerian Civil Defence, and several others.
In addition to his work in procurement, Engr Emeka Ezeh also holds key positions in academia and professional organizations. He serves as a facilitator and associate professor at the University of Lagos Business School, where he imparts his knowledge and expertise to aspiring procurement professionals. He is also a faculty member of the Centre for Innovation in Procurement, Environmental & Social Standards (CIPESS), a World Bank SPESSE Project at the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi and the University of Lagos.
Engr Emeka Ezeh’s contributions to the engineering field have been widely recognized. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a position he has held since 2021. He is a fellow of several professional institutions, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers.
However, one of the most significant highlights of Engr Emeka Ezeh’s career is his tenure as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) from 2007 to February 16, 2016. During this period, he played a pivotal role in the establishment and implementation of federal procurement policies in Nigeria. With his expertise and leadership, he ensured the transparency and effectiveness of the procurement process, resulting in significant savings of over $4.1125 billion from prior reviews of major projects.
Engr Ezeh’s ability to navigate the complex landscape of public procurement in Nigeria, managing the interplay of interests between the executive, legislative arms, and the bidding public, has been instrumental in bringing sanity to the procurement system. His accomplishments include the establishment of procurement cadres in all federal institutions, the development of standard bidding documents, and the implementation of a comprehensive e-procurement ICT infrastructure in collaboration with the UNODC.
Beyond his professional achievements, Engr Emeka Ezeh has also made notable contributions to national development through his involvement in various national committees and task groups. He has served as the Chairman of the National Committee on Energy Master Plan, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Governing Board of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and a member of the National Economic Management Team, among others.
Engr Emeka Ezeh’s exceptional track record as a public servant, his dedication to good governance, and his contributions to the field of engineering make him a deserving recipient of the Public Servant of the Decade award.
