The Crawling Snake – Okoroji Chidiebere Alexander

Poetry Collection Titled: The Bid

Days of longer nights
Dreams of a rudely nips
Picked on a crossways
And cross lines
Staged for the weak
Those without voice to speak
Without sight to peep
Tamed to reach their peak.

Save us from these demons
With poisonous venoms
From their sermon
Dogged to differ the norms
Sent to split our homes
Before we all turn to worms.

This nightwalkers
Silent killers
Acting like pillars
Plotting one’s downfall
Just know they are wailers
Waiting for me to make it
So they can bite me
Slowly once they get me.

These foes
Ugly bats
All they do is woe
Right there with their hoe
Setting that trap
So as to consume me
Sorry you’re bit late
These shameless whores
Filled with a dangerous shore.

Can I be somebody good to them
While they see me as a target
Can I fight what I can’t see
When the strength in me is lost
What then is fate?
When be careful is all I get
Will prayer help me?
From this crawling snakes
In human form.
